Yoga exercises (asanas) come from folk wisdom and research over millenia. There are asanas to nurture every organ in the body and for healing every ailment and emotional disturbance.

comfort
Only move as far as is quite comfortable - tight joints release in their own good time

Muscles released from tension may feel strange. This is a sign of success. There is no need to stay with these sensations.

if the yoga postures are uncomfortable to begin with:

follow the instructions without paying close attention to body sensations

let go of the discomfort and move on to feel increased energy and clarity of thought

remember the sensations to recall later without being too aware of them now

focus on something else

imagine someone else feeling the sensations

go back to another exercise

Take time out to walk around if you want a change and return later whenever you feel like it .

The asanas develop fitness, strength, endurance and flexibility for hours of meditation. And serenity, clarity, health and longevity.
